You are given the formula for the area of a circle:

A = n*r[sup:zad3fnpq]2[/sup:zad3fnpq]

r is the radius, and you're told that the radius is 12 inches. Substitute 12 for "r"

n (which in every version of the formula for the area of a circle I have ever seen is the mathematical constant pi) is 3.14 ....that's pi, rounded to two decimal places. Substitute 3.14 for "n".

Do the arithmetic, and you will find the area of the circle in square inches.

You are told that the coating costs $0.65 per square inch.

Multiply the number of square inches you'll need (which you've found above) by $0.65 to find the total cost for covering the window.
