1. How to I calculate and work out the following. The question asks "Find the probabilities for a standard random variable z":

(a) P (Z>-1.1)

(b) P (|Z| < 1.2)

(c) P (|Z|> 0.8)

(d) P (-1.1 ≤ Z ≤ 1.5)

2. "Find the value Z the makes the probabilities true" - how to I work this out

(a) P (Z< z) = 0.4

(b) P (Z ≤ z) = 0.5

(c) P (-z ≤ Z ≤ z) = 0.5

(d) P (|Z| > z) = 0.02

(e) P (|Z| < z) = 0.94

Have you tried any of these on your own? Show us what you have done so we can help you directly with your errors. If you have not done any of these on your own, then you need to get teacher help as standard normal didtribution and how to answer problems like the ones above are standard (no pun intended) tyoes of problems you need to be able to do in stats.

unfortunately I don't have contact with my teacher during this period. I don't know how to start or approach these so any help would be grateful.

You didn't get any instruction on these in class? This is just a matter of reading the values from a table of the "standard normal distribution".
