James wanted to estimate the avg serum cholesterol level of college students. How many students would he have to sample to be within 3 mg/dL of the true mean with 95% confidence? (He used the results of another study to estimate the standard deviation. The SD in the other study was 70 mg/dL.


I honestly don't know where to start here. Any help will be welcomed. I know we are supposed to show prior work but I don't know where to start.

What is the definition of 95% confidence range of mean?
