Good morning,

If I bought something for $8.00 a trash can (approximately 32 gallon), how much would a yard be at this cost? I am purchasing mulch and would prefer to bring my trash can if it is not significantly more than purchasing it by the yard.

Thanks,
Karen

Youre comparing apples to oranges, viz.,\displaystyle You're \ comparing \ apples \ to \ oranges, \ viz.,

gallons to yards,\displaystyle gallons \ to \ yards,

volume to length,\displaystyle volume \ to \ length,

no can do, unless you are talking cubic yards.\displaystyle no \ can \ do, \ unless \ you \ are \ talking \ cubic \ yards.

$8.00 a trash can (approximately 32 gallon), how much would a yard be at this cost?

[Note: When people say "yard" in this usage, it means cubic yards.]

32 gallon [US, liquid] = 0.158 436 213 99 yard according to:

http://www.onlineconversion.com/volume.htm

So, setting up a ratio,

$8/.16 cu.yds. = x/1.0 cu.yds

x = $50.50 per (cubic) yard approximately.
