Re: (3[2y)^2=???
If you cannot insert the ? symbol, then the standard notation for square root of x is sqrt(x).
The notation that you used does not tell me whether or not the y is underneath the square root symbol.
Is it [3 sqrt(2) y]^2 or [3 sqrt(2y)]^2 ?
\(\displaystyle \left(3\;\sqrt{2}\;y\;\right)^2\) OR \(\displaystyle \left(3\;\sqrt{2y}\;\right)^2\)
I'll show the first one.
[3 sqrt(2) y]^2 tells us that each of the three factors inside the square brackets is being squared. These three factors are 3, ?2, and y.
3^2 * sqrt(2)^2 * y^2
9 * 2 * y^2
18y^2
