Suppose a garden is rectangular, with a perimeter of 42 meters. The length is twice the twice.

What are the length and the width of the garden?

let the length be l, and the width w
then 2w+2l=42
and l=2w substitute into the above
2w+4w=42
6w=42
w=7m answer
l=14m answer
