Hello!
I am in Math 60 online distance ed. I have been wallowing through the course and seem to be able to understand a lot of what I read and re-read but I have a problem that just doesn't want to compute with my brain. Could you help me please?
Ok here goes...
Which of the following are conditions for f(x) to pass through the origin?

for f(x) to pass through the y-axis?

for f(x) to pass through the x-axis?

a. f0=0

b. f(x)=0

c. f(0)

d. f(x)-0 at x = 0

I'm lost to say the least. I think about slope and graphing but nothing is coming forth for me.
Thanks for any help you have.

\(\displaystyle a \ and \ b. \ If \ f(0) \ = \ 0, \ then \ we \ have \ the \ point \ (0,0).\)

\(\displaystyle And \ f(x) \ = \ 0 \ implies \ y \ = \ 0 \ which \ goes \ through \ (0,0).\)

\(\displaystyle Also \ if \ f(x) \ = \ 0, \ then \ f(anything) \ = \ 0, \ so \ f(0) \ = \ 0, \ same \ as \ a.\)

\(\displaystyle After \ thought: \ After \ reading \ your \ problem \ more \ carefully, \ to \ wit:\)

\(\displaystyle Which \ of \ the \ following \ are \ conditions, \ all \ are, \ but \ a \ and \ b \ are \ always \ true.\)
