Triangle ABC has vertices at A = (2, 2), B = (4, 2), and C = (4, 3).

42. A dilation with center (2,2) sends C to (11,6.5). What is the scale factor? Explain how you know.

Draw the new triangle. Label the coordinates of the new corners B and C.

What is the length, from A to B, of the new triangle's base?

Where does this lead?

I’m supposed to figure it out without the grid

The instructions don't specify that but, if you like, then just use the numbers. What *must* be the coordinates for point B? What then is the length of the base? (Hint: Subtract) How is this a change from the original triangle's base?

Look at coordinates of the old and new positions of C relative to the dilation point.
