A triangle has a perimeter 13. The two shorter sides have integer lengths equal to x and x + 1. Which of the following could be the length of the other side?

A. 2
B. 4
C. 6
D. 8
E. 10

What thoughts do you have?

I'd start with the triangle inequality, which says that the longest side is less than the sum of the shorter two sides.

At some point I would probably try out certain values of x (at least to confirm my answer, if not as part of a guess and check scheme).
