I need help on solving the quadratic equation by completing square and by using square roots.


xsquared + 10x - 24 = 0
i got... xsquared + 10x + (10/2)squared = 24 + (10/2)square
Iam lost after that...help thanks.

Since 10/2 = 5, you have
x² + 10x + 5² = 24 + 5²

Now factor the left-hand side and simplify the right-hand side.

Finally, take the square root of both sides. Finish solving.

note that [sqrt]{(a+b)²} = a + b
