Im trying to help my son with his homework and am stuck....

(x-a)(x-b)(x-c).....(x-z)

Can anyone help me get started or help me answer?

A 36 year old Mom.....

Hint: write out the last three terms is the product.

This is a trick question!

You do not really need to multiply these out - just observe the last three terms carefully.

My 40 year old husband and I dont understand what that means?

(x-a)(x-b)(x-c)........(x-v)(x-w)(x-x)(x-y)(x-z)

= (x-a)(x-b)(x-c)........(x-v)(x-w)(0)(x-y)(x-z)

= 0

What is the pattern of the factors? Isn't is "(x - (the next letter io the alphabet))"?

So what would be the last three factors?

Write them down on a piece of paper. Look at them.

Eliz.
