1. Translate "the quotient of x and 3y" into an algebraic expression.

2. Translate "the difference of 15 and 2y" into an algebraic expression.

3. Translate "the ratio of 90 more than x to x" into an algebraic expression.

My answers given below.

1. x/(3y)

2. 15 - 2y

3. (90 + x)/x or (x + 90)/x

Correct?

Yes...

90 more than x is x+90.
It is dangerous to write 90 + x because if you had 90 less than x why not write 90 - x??

I am sorry but I am confused. What question are you answering?

I am answering question 3 stated above.

Translate "the ratio of 90 more than x to x" into an algebraic expression.

The word RATIO tells me there is a fraction to form. My answer is (x + 90)/x.
