Ali Baba is caught by the sultan while stealing his daughter. The sultan is being gentle with him and he offers Ali Baba a chance to regain his liberty. There are two urns and m white balls and n black balls. Ali Baba has to put the balls in the two urns; however, he likes the only condition that no urn is empty. After that, the sultan will chose an urn at random, and then pick a ball from that urn. If the chosen ball is white Ali Baba is free to go, otherwise Ali Baba’s head will be at the same level as his legs. How should Ali Baba divide the balls to maximize his chance of survival?

in our case m = 1

please kindly if you can help me with this college level issue

I can help you with your issues of posting the same problem in multiple places. This behavior means, my time is more valuable than the time of the volunteers who could help me. This is not a good attitude. Show YOUR work and someone might decide to help you on your way.

I do not know how to solve this problem, I have no ideas how I should solve it, if it were solved I would understand what formulas can be applied, I posted it on several sites to get help I did not know how to please proceed nicely

Is that part of the problem statement? What does that mean?

You have not addressed my concerns. If you truly have NOTHING to offer, then by some definitions, no one can HELP you solve it.

You have 1 white ball and n black balls.
What is the probability that you pick the white ball if you just put the white ball in one urn and the n black balls in the other urn?
What is the probability that you pick the white ball if you put the white ball and 1 black ball in one urn and the n-1 remaining black balls in the other urn?
What is the probability that you pick the white ball if you put the white ball and 2 black balls in one urn and the n-2 remaining black balls in the other urn?
....

Math problems are not solved by formulas! It is solved by thinking. Formulas just help after you thought about how you are going to attack the problem.
