So I an supposed to solve for x right. I put together the equation and it looks like this 5x-13+90*=16x-55
it didn't give mea equation for the 90* but it showed a right angle s kind f figured it was 90* anyway I went on to solve for x and got 158=11x so now im not so sure I did it right and I cant figure out where I messed up.

So I a[m] supposed to solve for x right.
If you are given that x (an angle's measure, I'm guessing) is "right", then what is there to solve for? Haven't they given you that x = 90 degrees?

I put together the equation and it looks like this 5x-13+90*=16x-55
How did you "put together" this equation? How does this relate to the specified right angle? What does any of this have to do with the Angle Addition Postulate? (What, in your book, is the Angle Addition Postulate?)

it didn't give mea equation for the 90* but it showed a right angle s kind f figured it was 90* anyway I went on to solve for x and got 158=11x so now im not so sure I did it right and I cant figure out where I messed up.
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what this might mean. Kindly please reply with clarification, starting with the "it" that "didn't give 'mea' an equation", for what "it" didn't give her that equation, what is the "it" that was "showing" something, what "it" showed, by what logic you "kind [o]f figured" "it" (what?) was "90*", and so forth.

Thank you! ;)

Angles and Measurement

I attached a file I created to show what the problem was and what was given. Sorry that I accidentally misspelled some words before. I am quite confused with all this now to so yeah thanks for any help in advance. Also the star * asterisks kind of a makeshift degree symbol.

just realized how small that was at the bottom it says m<ADC= (16x-55) degrees
and the other angle ADB= (5x-13) degrees

That's fine. Just be sure to define any made-up notation, so others can be sure what you mean.

If I'm reading the small grainy image correctly, I think you were given the following:

Code:
given:

      D
       *--------------------*C
      /|
     / | m(<ADC) = (6x-55)°
    / |
   / | m(<ADB) = (5x-13)°
  / |
 / | m(<BDC) = 90°
*      *
A B
Hint: What is the angle which relates to the difference of angles ADC and ADB? ;)
