The following exercise comes from a "challenge sheet" that I received from my instructor in beginning algebra many years ago. I believe that this exercise is better suited for intermediate algebra students (if for no other reason than that's when I was able to finally solve it :wink: ), so I've posted it on this board.

PLEASE, if you would like to post any results, then post them HERE, so that everybody has a chance to see the exercise in this thread without solution methods.
