Hi All,
This is my first time around. I had a query for which i would like some help. I need to find the area of a 4 sided piece of land wherein the length from a - b = 17.94 meters, b - c = 14.60 meters, c - d = 20.60 meters and d - a = 10.64 meters. None of the sides are parallel and b, c and d are not right angles and da and ba join at 'a' to form an arc measuring 4.63 meters. The radius at the arc is around 3.06 meters. Please let me know if u can help. Thanks a lot. Sachin.

Please reply with the exact text of the exercise, the complete instructions, and any associated graph. For instance, what are the angles at each of the corners? ("Not right angles" is not enough information, obviously.)

I don't know the various real-world technicalities involved when surveyors do this sort of measurement, but I'd guess that (in order to simplify your homework) you're supposed to assume that the ground is level in the area being measured. Are there any other assumptions that the assignment specifies you are to use?

When you reply, please also show your work so far. Thank you! ;)

Imagine that region formed by rods with "pins" connecting the ends so that the rods can be rotated around the pins. Then you twist that figure into many different shapes all having the same length sides but different angles and different areas. That is why, as stapel says, at least some of the angles are necessary.

...or cut straws to various lengths and run one string through all of them, tying the string's ends together to form a "loop" of straws. Sit at kitchen table. Investigate. ;)
