Hi everybody,

I could not understand the following question. Why we did not write directly P[E] = 0.4? After the computations on the second page, we found P[E] = 0.25. However, in the first page question states that P[E] = 0.40.

This is on the second page. P[E] = P[E|A]P[A] + P[E|A’]P[A’] which is equals to (0.60)(0.30)+(0.10)(0.70) which is equals to 0.25

I see what you're saying. If we subsitute the given values and the solution into equations on page 36, some of those equations are false. Maybe typo(s) are to blame.
