Does anyone know how to calculate this area? I've attempted this 3 times and have been wrong every time, so a logical break down of the steps would be amazing. Thanks.

Find the total area of the region between the x-axis and the graph of y= -x -3x,
-6 <= x <= 1

Are you sure the equation is y = -x - 3x? I have a funny feeling at least one of those terms has an exponent.

That being said, where are you stuck on this problem? You said you tried it 3 times. Show us what you have tried so we can see where you are making your mistake.

Thanks!
