BestBuy Entertainment can obtain DVD players for $134 less a trade discount of 35%. A comparable model is available for $127 less a discount of 30%. How much lower $ amount is the DVD with lower net cost.

L = list price
d = discount

N = L- Ld
= 134 - (134)(.35)
= 134 -46.9
= 87.1

= 127 - (127)(.30)
= 127 - 38.1
= 88.9

88.9 - 87.1 = 1.80

I did this for both and subtracted to get the lower net cost of 1.80 for the Dvd is this correct

134 - (134)(.35) = 127 - (127)(.30)
134 - 46.9 = 127 - 38.1
87.1 = 88.9

Think about these Equal Signs. They make absolutely no sense at all. Your entire solution is impossible to follow until one realizes that you are working both pieces at the same time and magically connecting them with disingenuous Equal Signs.

Important Note: Never, EVER write an Equal Sign that is not telling the truth.

Much better. Effective corrections.

Why do you doubt your result? Do you see any errors?
