I'm stuck on this question, hoping I can get some help:

A team of three is to be chosen from five boys and four girls. There has to be at least one girl and one boy in the team. How many possibilities are there?

My working was (5C2 X 4) + (4C2 X 5)
Giving an answer of 70 which is apparently wrong....

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

Cheers

Why do you think it's wrong? Your work looks good.

If it is a computer that is telling you it's wrong, please show us an image of the entire problem, including how it says to enter the answer, and what you entered. (Do something similar if it's a human ...)

It's a question from this book. There was no other information in the question, I've written it word for word.

The answer given is 60, but I can't figure out how this can be apart from the book being wrong....

My vote is that the book is wrong. I get 70, and my quick-and-dirty script gets 70, which makes it two against one book :)

Clearly the book is wrong, since we all got 70. That happens.

70 is not that large. Try listing out the outcomes and see if you get 60 or 70--or maybe something else.
