Compatible and incompatible sets of equations question

Yes, that's the answer for part (a).

Have you done the rest? If so, show your work for (a), as they mention! Then we can work from there to help you finish.

For part (b):

I have said there is an infinite number of solutions, hence the number of families in each group cannot be determined.

X = 1/2(33- lambda)
Y = 33-(2*lambda)

Part (c):

Number of families with one bike = 11

Number of families with 2 bikes = 12

Number of families with 3 bikes = 10

Is this correct?

Cheers

Please show a little more: what do X, Y, and lambda mean? What were the equations for part (c)?

But I think you are correct.
