Hello, peep1963!

The question confuses me. . What part is confusing?

A satellite is in circular orbit 25,000 miles above Earth.
Write an equation for the orbit of this satellite if the origin is at the center of the Earth.
Use 8,000 as the diameter of the Earth.
You know the equation of a circle with its center at the origin, right? \(\displaystyle \;x^2\,+\,y^2\:=\:r^2\)
So all we need is the <u>radius</u> of the circle.

The radius of the Earth is \(\displaystyle 4000\text{ miles}\); the satellite is \(\displaystyle 25,000\text{ miles}\) above the Earth.
. . Therefore, the radius of the circular orbit is . . . ?
