Hi, I am having some problems understanding what they are asking for in this question. Hopefully someone will be able to clear this up for me.

Determine the constant of variation for the stated condition: g varies directly as f, and g = 70 when f = 5.

Variation statements translate as follows:

. . . . ."y varies directly as x": y = kx

. . . . ."y varies inversely as x": y = k/x

. . . . ."y varies jointly as x and z": y = kxz

Translate your statement into the appropriate equation. Plug the given f- and g-variable information into the equation, and solve for the value of the variation constant "k".

Eliz.
