Coordinate Proof and Area of A Square

The coordinates of a square are A(-1,6), B(1,3), C(-1,0), and D(-3,3).

How would you prove the square is a square with a coordinate proof? Would you use the distance formula?
(Work should be shown!)

And how would find the area of the square with the use of a formula (Work must be shown...and should you use the distance formula?)
