Cosmic Densities & Voids within Hundreds of Millions of Light Years

Last week, I learned that our galaxy is shaped similar to a popular potato chip. (That sounded a bit greasy, at first.)

Today, I saw this interesting article about a cool, new representation of "local" outer space, 30 years in the making. The big picture reminded me of a partial cellular organelle, the smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
