An open rectangular box with a length of 6 feet width of 4 feet and height of 2.5 feet is to be painted on all exterior sides including the bottom with a special waterproofing coating. Each gallon of this special coating covers 12 square feet of surface area and cost $36.00. the box is then filled with water that weighs approximately 62 pounds per cubic feet.
A) find the cost of painting the open box
B) find the weight of the water in the filled box

You are going to have 5 rectangles to paint, the bottom and the 4 sides (consisting of two pairs). Can you identify the dimensions of each?
 
The open box has a bottom and 4 sides.
 
Yes, the bottom will be length by width, two sides will be length by height, and two sides will be width by height. Then add them together to get the total surface area to be painted. What is your total area?
