I'm studying for a TEST, and I know that there is an easier way to divide decimals by hundreds and tens and thousands besides long division, like moving the decimal point or someting. I would appreciate it if someone could show me how to do it. Thanks!

1/1000 = 10^(-3)

Move the decimal point 3 places to the left, to divide a decimal number by 1,000

1/100 = 10^(-2)

Move the decimal point 2 places to the left, to divide a decimal number by 100

1/10 = 10^(-1)

Move the decimal point 1 place to the left, to divide a decimal number by 10

10 = 10^1

Move the decimal point 1 place to the right, to multiply a decimal number by 10

100 = 10^2

Move the decimal point 2 places to the right, to multiply a decimal number by 100

1000 = 10^3

Move the decimal point 3 places to the right, to multiply a decimal number by 1,000

Are you seeing a rule, yet? :cool:

Yep! I think I already got the division, and I remember now that it's the same with multiplication, exept you move the decimal piont the opposite way. Thanks!
