elliptical problem...assistance please

I am attempting this problem to study for a test (it is not for a grade). I already know the correct answer...highlighted below...I would really like to learn HOW to do this type of problem, I am stuck on this one, if someone could please take me through it, it would be very much appreciated!

Any ellipse with center at \(\displaystyle (0,0)\) looks like\(\displaystyle \dfrac{x^2}{a^2}+\dfrac{y^2}{b^2}=1\)
In this question \(\displaystyle a=2~\&~b=4\) because the major is vertical of 8mi.
