how is f(x)= x3+2 an even function. i think it's an odd function but the answer on my packet tells me that it's an even function.

these are my steps...
f(-x)= (-x)3+2= -x3+2. which proves that it's odd because it doesn't match up with the original function. explain why this is an even function!

That function is neither even nor odd.
The function \(\displaystyle f(x)=x^2+2\) is even. Maybe it is a typo?

thank you! neither is probably right.

how would I know if the function is even or odd if it's f(x)= 3sinx...??? if i plug in -x in, it would be 3sin(-x)...so it would be neither again or...

No

sin(-x) = - sin(x) ............ an odd function
