A plane is flying from Anchorage to Fairbanks (a distance of about 250 miles) has been traveling for 30 minutes before the pilots discovers she is off course by 10.0 degrees. If the air plane maintains an average speed of 180mi/h, through what angle should the pilot turn to reach Fairbanks?

we shall assume the heading from anchorage to fairbanks is 0* * is degrees

the plane has traveled 90miles in 30 minutes

the plane traveled 90 sin 10* perpindivular to the line to fairbanks,
and 90 cos10* in direction of fairbanks

the plane must now head tan@ = [90 sin 10*]/[250-90cos10*]
the heading would be @ counterclockwise if the original error was clockwise.

Here is your answer: YES! I read the reply.

Ok...I am confused. In a previous post you said this was not homework (thus, an answer by itself should be of NO VALUE) to you. Yet, you ask for an answer.

When someone sets up a problem for you, and you aren't willing to do the calculations indicated in the problem.....we HAVE to wonder what is going on.

If you're studying for some kind of test, wouldn't you want to know HOW to solve problems like this?? I know I would.....
