The measure of the arc of this sector is given as 45[sup:317h05oy]o[/sup:317h05oy]

What part of the whole circle is this?

The area of the sector is the SAME part of the area of the circle.

(area of sector)/(area of whole circle) = (measure of arc)/360[sup:317h05oy]o[/sup:317h05oy]

Hello, isu23pink!

Find the area of the shaded region to the nearest hundredth.

Code:
              * * *
          *           *
        *               *
       *              *::*
                    *::::: 45 deg
      *           *:::::::*
      *         * * * * * *
      *            6 cm   *

       *                 *
        *               *
          *           *
              * * *

\(\displaystyle \text{The area of the circle is: }\:A \;=\;\pi r^2 \;=\;\pi(6^2) \;=\;36\pi\text{ cm}^2\)

\(\displaystyle \text{The sector occupies: }\:\frac{45^o}{360^o} \:=\:\frac{1}{8}\text{ of the circle.}\)

\(\displaystyle \text{Therefore, the area of the sector is: }\;\frac{1}{8} \times 36\pi \;=\;\frac{9\pi}{2} \;\approx\;14.14\text{ cm}^2\)
