Hi. :D

I'm Stacey. =waves=
I'm in a self-paced brush up math course that isn't exactly working for me. We take a pretest, then a test, then move onto the next chapter, 9 in all. If you fail a p.test or test, you just keep retaking them until you pass.

Well, I've noticed a pattern.

Things that I work so hard to understand on the p.tests are never on the actual test, there are different things, and, like always, I've run into this again.

So I've got here a copy of my exam, and the things I got wrong are the things I never learned how to do with the p.test.

If you'll just be a bit patient, I'll have the work I did for it up in a jiffy, my scanner is a bit slow.

They're quite large, so I won't post them here...so yes, any clarification on those problems would be most appreciative, I've tried to correct them myself...but I'm quite confused as to what I'm doing wrong...

Since we cannot teach lessons here, you will need to do self-study from online lessons (or buy a book, or hire a local tutor, etc).

For the paper at the first link:

1) Google results for "evaluation expressions"

2) Google results for "LCM fractions"

3) Google results for "graph number line"
Google results for "fractions compare greater than less"

4) Google results for "negative numbers"

5) See (4)

6) Google results for "add multiply fractions"
Google results for "add multiply mixed numbers"

For (7) through (12), see (6).

More to follow later....

You do not show much of work - how can we correct it?

For the paper at the second link:

For (13) and (14), see (4) and (6) in the previous reply, and:

Google results for "exponents"
Google results for "simplify exponents"

For (15) through (17):

Google results for "solving linear equations"

For (18) through (20):
Google results for "percent word problems"
Google results for "translate word problems"
Google results for "decimals fractions percents"

For (21) and (22), see "decimals fractions percents" link for (18).

23) Google results for "equivalent fractions"

24) Google results for "simplify reduce fractions"

25) Google results for "prime factorization"

Please give yourself a few hours every day to study at least two lessons at each link. With diligent effort (including working every example for yourself), you may be able to teach yourself these topics in only two or three weeks.

Good luck! :D

Eliz.

I did look at one page of your test...teeny, tiny type very hard for my senior citizen eyes to decipher....

But...

I can tell that you need much review on basic operations with fractions. This may be very hard for you do do on your own. I'd look for a tutor in your area who can work with you one-on-one for a while, so that you can acquire the knowledge you'll need to proceed.

You can contact your local high school to see if they have suggestions for tutors, or your local community college. I think you'll find it is well worth the expense to get some individual help.

You've also been given many on-line sources for instructional lessons. Please work through those, as well.
