When I was in grade school we were taught this with the silly mnemonic device "Whatever you do to grandma, you have to do to Grandpa too" :roll:

Seriously speaking, that is ignorant. You should never have been taught that. "Grandma" and "Grandpa" are different individuals and have different needs.

As quantities in mathematics, they are unlike as well. The analogy just does not fit. This should never be passed on again.
