A conservation officer needs to know the width of a river in order to set instruments
correctly for a study of pollutants in the river. From a point A on the bank of one
side of the river, the officer walked downstream 110 feet. He then sighted point B,
which was directly across the river from point A and determined the angle from
where he was to point B was 38 degrees. How wide is the river to the nearest foot?

What have you done thus far? Where are you stuck? Did you draw a picture?

The given information describes a right-triangle, with one known side and angle.

Have you worked any prior exercises, using right-triangle trig definitions for sine, cosine, et cetera? That is, have you seen these definitions before?

thanks

that information helped thanks
