As I read it, the -3 is written in as the (correct) value of p for part (a). It is confusing.You are given that y=x3−2x+1 but where did you get the y=−x3−3x+4 right below it?
For the first problem do you understand that p−3=y(−2)=(−2)3−2(−2)+1? Can you solve that for p?
