The Social Justice Club is going to rent a mammoth barbeque to cook the hot dogs for the hot dog sale. After contacting three rental companies in town, you have found out that each one will deliver and pick up their barbeque. The cost of propane is included in the rental. The rental costs are indicated below.\

Rental A: $15/hRental B: $5/h + 50Rental C: $9/h + 2

1. Write an equation that models the rental cost, C, for each company.2. Graph all three models onto the same set of coordinate axis.3. Which rental company should be chosen if you use the barbeque during lunch (11:05 - 12:30) and keep the barbeque to continue sales during the football game that will end about 4:30? Justify your answer.4. Which rental company should be chosen if your school lunch hours run from 11:05 - 12:30? Justify your answer.5. Which rental company should be chosen if your school returned the barbeque the following day? Justify your answer.

As a function of what variable? Probably the time, t, in hours, but that should said. If you were told that the barbecue was used for t hours how would you calculate the cost for each barbecue?

2. Graph all three models onto the same set of coordinate axis.
These are each "linear functions" so the graphs are straight lines. Two points determine a straight line.

A) The cost for, say, 5 hours is $15(5)= $75 so one point on your graph is (5, 75). The cost for 10 hours is $15(10)= $150 so another point is (10, 150). Mark those two points on your graph and draw the line through them.
B) The cost for, say, 5 hours is $5(5)+ 50= $75 so one point on your graph is (5, 75). The cost for 10 hours is $5(10)+ 50= $100 so another point is (10, 100). Mark those two points on your graph and draw the line through them.
C) The cost for, say, 5 hours is $9(5)+ 2= $47 so one point on your graph is (5, 47). The cost for 10 hours is $9(10)+ 2= $92 so another point is (10, 92). Mark those two points on your graph and draw the line through them.

3. Which rental company should be chosen if you use the barbeque during lunch (11:05 - 12:30) and keep the barbeque to continue sales during the football game that will end about 4:30? Justify your answer.
Well, from 11:05 to 4:30 is 5 hours and 25 minutes or 5 and 25/50= 5 and 5/12 hours. What is the cost of each of these companies for 5 and 5/12 hours?

4. Which rental company should be chosen if your school lunch hours run from 11:05 - 12:30? Justify your answer.
This is now 55+ 30= 85 minutes, 1 hour and 25 minutes, 1 and 5/12 hours. What is the cost of each of these companies for 1 and 5/12 hours?

5. Which rental company should be chosen if your school returned the barbeque the following day? Justify your answer.
How many additional hours would that be? Even without knowing a specific value, you might guess that, since this will be quite a number of hours, the company with the smallest "per hour" cost will be cheapest.
