I have worked this problem and I am stuck
x^2 + 7x/3 = -4

x^2 + 7x = -4

x^2 + 7x -4 = 0
now I can't figure the factoring out.

What happened to the denominator, "3", from the first line?

Please reply with clarification. Thank you.

Eliz.

Ok I did not do the problem right here goes

x^2 +7x/3 = -4 The book says to multiply each side by 3

x^2 + 7x = -12 simply

x^2 + 7x -12 = 0 place in standrad form
then factor( that's what is the problem that I cant get)

x^2 +7x/3 = -4 The book says to multiply each side by 3

should look like this then....

3x^2 +7x = -12

3x^2 +7x +12 = 0

then do the factor step.

ok I can't seem to factor and check with the foil method to make sure I am correct.
I came up with

(3x + 3)(x + 4)

or

(3x + 4) (x + 3)

I just can't get it
