I have a problem here. I have a jerk of a teacher and won't help out any of his students and I have a test on Monday.

I have to complete a construction.

It says:

Given: Point N on line s
Construct: Line m through N so that m perpendicular s

Please help :?:

1. at point N on the horizontal line s draw a arc 3 units long. A unit could be a inch or 1/2 inch , whatever fits on your paper
2 where the arc cuts the line mark it points a and b one on each side of N
3. at points a and b draw arcs of 5 units, or any length greater than 3.
4. where the arcs cross, one below the line and one above the line mark the points c and d
5. draw a line thru c and d

Hello, Ani!

You need only one more point . . .

Given: Point N on line s
Construct: Line m through N so that m perpendicular to s
Code:
Place your compass point at N
and swing arcs on both sides,
 s -----(-------*-------)------ cutting the line at A and B.
        A N B

Now spread your compass slightly.
Place the point at A and swing an arc somewhere above N.
Place the point at B and swing an arc cutting the first arc at P.

                P
                x The line through P and N
                                   is perpendicular to line s.

 s -----*-------*-------*-----
        A N B
