x=3y/7

y=126 correct to 3 significant figures.
z=12.4 correct to 1 decimal place.

Work out the upper bound for the value of
x.Give your answer correct to 3 decimal places when appropriate.

This is a math help forum and not a home service site. On this forum we expect the student to be involved in finding the solution while the helpers here give leading hints. In order to give hints we need to see the work you have done so far, even if you know it is wrong. Then we have an idea of what type of help to offer. So please post back sharing your work with us!

Also, can you please post the exact problem? A picture would be best.

There is no "z" in x= 3y/7 so either the information "z=12.4 correct to 1 decimal place" is irrelevant or you have quoted the problem incorrectly. Was it, possibly, x= 3y/z?

You are told that "y=126 correct to 3 significant figures". Do you understand what that means? It mean that y could be as large as 126+ 0.5= 126.5 or as small as 126- 0.5= 125.5.

What is x if y= 126.5? What is x if y= 125.5?
