I have to answer the following question and have come up with two answers.

Using the order of operations, I get 10. The "wrong" way seems to be 40.

55 x 3 ÷ 5 – 8 + 15



Can someone please confirm what is correct?

I don't know what you mean by "wrong" way but "PEMDAS" tells you that all multiplications and divisions should be done before any additions or subtractions. The multiplications and divisions give 55*3/5= 165/5= 33 (also (55/5)(3)= 11(3)= 33- it doesn't matter what order you use for the multiplications and divisions).

So what is 33- 8+ 15.
