I just need some help with a simple concept, I havnt really figured out LaTeX yet, so bear with me.

For the following fraction:

. . .(2 sqrt[5]) / 4

Can I divide out the 2 with the 4 in the denominator to get the following?

. . .(sqrt[5]) / 2

Or do I have to leave it because it's attatched.

Sorry about the vagueness.

I'm not sure what you mean by "attached", but since 2 is a common factor, yes, this can be cancelled off in the usual way.

The "2" is not attached; it is a simple multiplication: 2 times sqrt(5);
no different than 2x / 4.

Thanks,

I Know it sounds stupid, every once in a while I just forget the most simple of concepts :)
