Hi everyone. I've got a worded math problem I need help solving. Can anyone help solve this and include their working?

Hi ponebac. This exercise involves translating English statements to algebraic equations. (If you haven't studied algebra, please let us know.)

Using Subhotosh Khan's symbol choices, I would begin by working with numbers B (banana count) and C (cherry count), first.

Can you show us equations for the following two statements of equality?

1) There are 56 more cherries than bananas.

2) The ratio of bananas to cherries is 5:7.

Please share your thoughts or attempt, so we can see where you need help. If you read anything specific that you don't understand, then ask about it. Cheers.

:)
