What I was getting at was:
If you draw a vertical line through the point (2, 7), all the points on that line have an x-coordinate of 2. Right? So the equation of the vertical line is x=2.

If you draw a horizontal line through the point (2, 7), all of the points on that line have a y-coordinate of 7. Right? So the equation of that line is y=7.

That's the reasoning behind what pka told you.

I prefer that you learn the reasoning behind something. That way you don't need to remember so many "formulas".
