How can I find the value of 'x' in this problem?

-4[x+3]=2[x-5] clear the brackets
-4x-4[+3]=2x+2[-5]
-4x-12=2x-10
place all x terms on one side of = sign. do this by subtracting 2x from each side of = sign
-4x-2x-12=-10
place all non x terms on right side of = sign. add 12 to each side
-6x=-10+12
-6x=2 but we want to know what x ='s, not -6x so divide both sides by -6
x=-2/6 answe
x=-1/3
