how does f(2+2)=3 because that what my book says

can somebody explain this

Thanks!

You have a function f(x) = something, such that when you plug in f(4) you get out 3.

The function could be f(x) = x-1, but it could also be more complicated than that. Please provide us with the entire problem.

Thanks,
John

that's all that probelm says
If the entire exercise, instructions and explanation included, is "f(2+2) = 3", then there is no way to "answer" this, because there is no question, nor even an intelligible statement. Sorry.

Please consult with your instructor regarding explanation. Thank you.
