Hi. I want to see if this problem is correct
There are 1400 students in a school. The teacher to student ratio is 1:35. How many additional teachers are needed to reduce the ratio to 1:20?
My work.
1400 ÷35 students= 40 teachers presently.
I want less the ratio to go down to 1:20
14,000÷20=70
For this amount of students per teacher I would need 70 teachers. I have already 40 teachers.
70-40=30
I will need 30 additional teachers

You should learn to check your own work. But yes that is correct.
 
Solve using a ratio.

40 current teachers

[math]\dfrac{40}{x} = \dfrac{1/35}{1/20} \implies 2 = \dfrac{1}{35} * x \implies x = 70.[/math]
