Hello, I hope you are all doing well. I need you to walk me through this problem.

Jared wants to paint his room. The dimension of the room is 12 ft by15 ft and the walls are 9 ft. There are two windows, each with dimensions 6 feet by 5 feet. There are two doors, each with dimensions 30 inches by 6 feet. If a gallon of paint covers about 350 square feet, how many gallons of paint will he need to put two coats of paint on the wall?.

Thanks a lot,
eddy

I would start by finding the dimensions of each wall, then the area of each wall, and add them up (so far, ignoring windows and doors).

Then I would add up the areas of the windows and doors and subtract that from the total, since they don't have to be painted.

Then think about the paint.

Give it a try, and show us your work.

Thanks a lot, Dr. I will follow your instructions and report back to you tomorrow.
