We are reviewing some of our work in my trig class and I forgot how to Evaluate the following.

(6a^1/3)^3

Is it just 6a because I am not sure.

You are nearly there but don't forget that you are also cubing 6

(6a^1/3)^3 =

(6^3)(a^(1/3 x 3) =

216 a ^3/3 =

216a^1 =

216a

well uhm I still don't understand why you did that and if so how could I simplify:

(4y^4)^3/2

I think I understand what you did

Wait I think I understand. I think my problem is that I am viewing 6a as a number all of its own but I am forgetting that what I do to one I must do to the other. So would

(4y^4)^3/2= (4 * 3/2) (y^4* 3/2)= 8y^6 ?
