I have no idea where to start. Please Help! (simplify 2-3 + 3-2, etc)

I am totally lost with these. If y'all could help me solve these that would be awesome!

1. Rationalize the denominator and simplify. All variables represent positive real numbers.
6
2+√5

2. Perform the indicated operation and simplify:
2-3 + 3-2

3. Write in terms of i and simplify : (√−36)(√−49)

4. Perform the indicated operations and then simplify:
(7? − 9)(? + 4)

5. Factor each polynomial completely. Indicate any that are not factorable using integers.
a. 2?2 − 8
b. 15 − 14? + 3?2

Are you sure that you have no idea regarding the solution of (2)?

I suspect that 2 is supposed to read as 23+32\displaystyle 2^{-3} + 3^{-2}.

For 2: Recall that an=1an\displaystyle a^{-n} = \frac{1}{a^n}

For 4: How do you do FOIL?

Take it from there and let us know if you still have problems regarding these two.

Let's deal first with the low hanging fruit.

2. Perform the indicated operation and simplify:
2-3 + 3-2

23+32=22+33=0+0=0.\displaystyle 2 - 3 + 3 - 2 = 2 - 2 + 3 - 3 = 0 + 0 = 0.

Any questions about that one?

4. Perform the indicated operations and then simplify:
(7 - 9)(+ 4)
(79)(+ 4)=( 2)(4)= 8.\displaystyle (7 - 9)(+\ 4) = (-\ 2)(4) = -\ 8.

If you need further help on this one, please specify exactly where.

5. Factor each polynomial completely. Indicate any that are not factorable using integers.
a. 2?2 − 8
b. 15 − 14? + 3?2
228=14=27.\displaystyle 22 - 8 = 14 = 2 * 7.

1514+32=1+32=33=311.\displaystyle 15 - 14 + 32 = 1 + 32 = 33 = 3 * 11.

Again, please be specific in what is confusing you so we know where you need help.

@blueunicorn125 ͏ ͏ When I look at the expression:

2-3 + 3-2

I see:

-1 + 1

Are those questions from a sample placement test?

Let's restate all these problems as they are surely intended to be read (highlighting those that have been misinterpreted), to demonstrate the right way to type them:

1. Rationalize the denominator and simplify. All variables represent positive real numbers.
6
-----
2+√5

or
6/(2 + sqrt(5))

2. Perform the indicated operation and simplify:
2-3 + 3-2

or
2^(-3) + 3^(-2)

3. Write in terms of i and simplify :
√(−36)√(−49)

or
sqrt(-36)*sqrt(-49)

4. Perform the indicated operations and then simplify:
(7? − 9)(? + 4)

[this one was written appropriately; but it isn't necessary to use a special character for x.]

5. Factor each polynomial completely. Indicate any that are not factorable using integers.
a. 2?2 − 8
b. 15 − 14? + 3?2
or
a. 2x^2 − 8
b. 15 − 14x + 3x^2

My guess is that this was all pasted in without any thought. What many of us are looking for before we will give much help is evidence that you have thought about how to solve the problems, in addition to how to write them appropriately. If you want help, please show some work and tell us what help you need.

Thanks

I really struggle in Math and you guys have helped me tremendously. Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it!
