Hey, i have a problem and i need help to solve this. I need to do a system for this.

"The perimeter of a rectangular shaped lot is 30m. Knowing that the area of the lot is 56m2, do you know its size?"

Can someone help me, i need some help.

Draw a rectangle. Call the length x and the width y. Now write down two equations, one for perimeter and one for area

Start naming variables.

Let

the length of the rectangle = x

the width of the rectangle = y

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 * x + 2 * y = 30 .......................................(1)

Area of the rectangle= A = x * y = 56 \(\displaystyle \ \ \to \ \ \)y = 56/x..............................(2)

Continue.....

Consider one side of the rectangle to be x and the other y
therefore 2x+2y=30
and xy (multiply x by y) = 56
Numbers that multiply to 56 are 28 x 2 but 28+28+2+2 is more than 30
the other option is 8 x 7, 8+8+7+7 =30
so the side lengths of the rectangle (x & y) are 8 and 7

INTEGERS that multiply to 56 are 56x1, 28x2, 14x 4, 7x8.
I guess you mention only the first two because the second happened to be the ones you wanted but WHY are you assuming that they must be integers?
